François K

François K (born François Kevorkian) is a legendary French-born DJ, producer, remixer and label head whose influence on modern dance music spans nearly five decades. Based in New York since the 1970s, he cut his teeth in the underground club scene, spinning at iconic spots like Paradise Garage and Studio 54, and is widely regarded as one of the forefathers of house music.

As a remixer and producer, François K has worked with an extraordinary range of artists—from Dinosaur L. and Yazoo to Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Diana Ross and U2—helping shape the sound of dance music at its most formative moments.

In 1995 he founded Wave Music, an influential independent dance label, and alongside Joe Claussell and Danny Krivit co-created the celebrated Body & Soul parties in New York—a soulful, spiritual Sunday afternoon tradition embraced by dancers worldwide.
