Martha Tilston

Martha Tilston is an English folk singer-songwriter and multi-disciplinary artist whose deeply expressive music blends lyrical introspection with acoustic beauty and poetic storytelling. Based in Cornwall and born into a musical family — her father is folk singer-songwriter Steve Tilston and her stepmother was Irish folk performer Maggie Boyle — Martha’s work draws from rich English and Irish folk traditions while remaining vividly contemporary.

Since launching her career in the early 2000s on Britain’s alternative festival circuit and initially as part of the duo Mouse, Tilston has independently released over ten albums and earned a nomination for Best New Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. She’s also collaborated with artists like Zero 7 and toured widely, captivating audiences with her silken voice and thoughtful lyrics that explore personal, social and environmental themes.
