Robert Luis

Robert Luis is the co-founder, co-owner and A&R heart of the iconic UK independent label Tru Thoughts, based in Brighton — a creative hub for electronic, soul, jazz, hip-hop, grime and more since 1999. Together with Paul Jonas, Robert helped launch and nurture one of the country’s most eclectic labels, releasing music from artists such as Quantic, Bonobo, Flowdan, Moonchild, Hot 8 Brass Band and many others across more than two decades.

As a DJ, tastemaker and curator, Robert has been championed for his eclectic sets that span beats, jazz, funk, bass, reggae, soul and drum & bass — bringing fresh and classic sounds to clubs and festivals around the world. He also presents the long-running weekly Unfold radio show, celebrating music “across the board, across the borders,” and showcasing cutting-edge artists from the Tru Thoughts family and beyond.
